Clipping software for editors

Skapo does the first pass. You finish it in your own timeline.

Skapo picks the moments, reframes them to 9:16 and captions them in about 10 minutes. Then you open the cuts in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Timeline export is on paid plans.

Sound familiar?

  • Scrubbing a two-hour episode for the good bits eats hours you can't fully bill.
  • A finished MP4 is a dead end. If one cut is off, there is nothing to open up and fix.
  • Reframing every camera change to vertical by hand is slow, boring work.
  • Captioning a backlog by hand is the least creative part of the job.

How Skapo handles it

Open the cuts in Premiere or DaVinci

Every clip exports as an XML timeline that Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve both import, plus an EDL for everything else. The cuts point at your own source footage, so you relink once and keep editing. Timeline export is on paid plans.

A first pass in about 10 minutes

Skapo finds the moments, reframes to vertical and captions each clip. You start from a rough cut you can change, not a blank timeline.

Captions as files too

Every clip's captions download as SRT or VTT, so you can restyle them in your own edit instead of living with the burned-in look.

Three steps, no timeline editor

01

Drop in the client footage

Paste a link or upload the source video.

02

Skapo does the first pass

03

Finish it in your timeline

Post the MP4s as they are, or pull the Premiere / DaVinci timeline into your project and polish from there.

Common questions

Can I open Skapo's clips in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?

Yes, on paid plans. Each clip downloads as an XML timeline (Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve both import it) and an EDL, and there's one project file with every clip of a job as its own sequence. The cuts point at your original footage, so you relink once and edit like normal. Captions come separately as SRT or VTT. On the free plan you get watermarked MP4s.

What about Final Cut Pro?

Final Cut Pro X uses its own format, which Skapo doesn't write. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and anything that reads an EDL (Avid included) work.

Does Skapo replace my editing or speed it up?

It speeds it up. Skapo does the repetitive first pass (picking moments, reframing, captions) so your billable time goes to the polish clients pay for.

Does it handle vertical reframing automatically?

Yes. Active-speaker tracking reframes 16:9 to 9:16 and keeps the subject centered through camera changes, with no manual crop keyframing.

Bill for the polish, not the scrubbing.
