The honest summary
OpusClip is one of the most popular AI clippers, with a large template library, a virality-score feature and a choice of speaker layouts, from active-speaker framing to split, 3- and 4-speaker screens. It is a solid, general-purpose choice for solo creators.
When OpusClip fits better
You want a big library of caption templates, a virality score to sort clips by, and are happy to choose the speaker layout per template or per clip.
When Skapo fits better
You clip interviews or panels and want the layout decided inside each clip without touching it, you want the clip edges handled for you, you cut in European or Asian languages, or you have data-retention requirements from corporate clients.
What is the best OpusClip alternative for podcasts?
Both handle interviews now. OpusClip offers active-speaker framing and split, 3- and 4-speaker layouts that you set per template or pick per clip. Skapo decides the layout inside each clip by itself, splitting for up to 4 speakers while they share the shot and dropping to one when the edit cuts to a single person, so there is nothing to fix clip by clip. Both pick and rank moments for you. Where they differ is the edges: Skapo starts each clip on a whole word and trims each one toward the end of its sentence, aiming for a clip that does not stop halfway through a thought.
Does Skapo have a virality score like OpusClip?
There is no 0 to 99 score. Skapo ranks the moments it finds, delivers them in that order and drops the ones that do not stand on their own. Its focus is the shape of each clip: it aims the start at the line that hooks and trims each one toward the end of its sentence.
How is Skapo different from OpusClip on privacy?
Skapo validates files in your browser and uploads directly to private encrypted storage, and keeps clips available on a published clock: 7 days free, 30 days on Freelancer Pro, 90 days on White Label, and 30, 90 or 365 days per client workspace. After that they are taken offline, and deleting your account erases everything. OpusClip does not publish a comparable fixed retention window.
Is Skapo or OpusClip better for non-English content?
Skapo tunes 22 languages end to end, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi and Thai alongside Dutch, German and French, with word-level captions in 40+ languages overall. Two things are worth checking against any tool: whether its captions render your script at all rather than as empty boxes, and whether its filler removal knows that "er" is hesitation in English but an ordinary word in German and Dutch. Skapo ships a separate filler list per language for exactly that reason.
Does Skapo cut clips mid-sentence?
It tries not to, and it shows you where every cut sits. Skapo aims each clip at one line to open on and one to close on, and starts it on a whole word. Open "How this clip was built" on any clip and you see the opening line and where the clip sits in the episode. If an end runs long, trim it in the clip editor and only that clip re-renders. To move an edge outward, export the clip as a Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve timeline against your original video (paid plans, or after the EUR 8.99 clean-export unlock).
Try Skapo on your own footage
